Description

In the Baroque Marble Hall of Schloss Mirabell, where the Mozart family once performed for the Salzburg archbishops, Ensemble 1756, together with solo clarinetist Marius Birtea, presents a concert that places Mozart’s musical legacy at its heart. Founded in Salzburg and composed of graduates from the Mozarteum, the ensemble combines chamber music refinement with a vibrant ensemble culture.

The program spans from Mozart’s early Salzburg Divertimento in D major, K. 136 (1772), capturing the youthful playfulness of his Salzburg years, to his late Clarinet Concerto in A major, K. 622 (1791), a masterpiece full of warmth and elegance. The concert is further enriched by Carl Maria von Weber’s Clarinet Quintet in B-flat major, Op. 34, and Mozart’s overture to Le Nozze di Figaro, K. 492. An evening that brings Mozart’s diverse oeuvre—from light chamber music to symphonic depth—to life in a place that is itself part of music history.
