The Mozart Consort Salzburg invites you to a concert featuring works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The program includes Mozart’s "Salzburg Symphony" in D major, K. 136, the Concerto for Cello and Strings in D major after K. 447, the Serenade in G major, K. 525 "Eine kleine Nachtmusik," and the String Quartet in A major, K. 169. The evening concludes with Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations, Op. 33, for cello and string quartet, performed by Matthias Beckmann on the cello.
Founded in Salzburg in 1999, the ensemble is dedicated to the music of Mozart and his contemporaries, inspired by Leopold Mozart’s "Gründliche Violinschule." The musicians of the consort, with many years of experience in renowned Salzburg institutions such as the Salzburg Festival, curate a program spanning from Viennese Classicism to Romanticism. The concert takes place in the historic Marble Hall of Schloss Mirabell—a venue where the Mozart family once performed for the Salzburg archbishops.
