Description

In this turbulent and heartwarming Christmas comedy from Austria (2025), cabaret artist Gery Seidl plays his first leading role in a film as construction manager Andi. Between a stressful job with impatient Chinese clients and a demanding boss (Roland Düringer), he tries to give his family a perfect holiday—yet nothing goes according to plan. When his wife Steffi (Marlene Morreis) and his bonus daughter Alma (Mia Plamberger) travel to the Waldviertel region to visit his strict mother-in-law (Maria Hofstätter), the chaos escalates: 280 door frames are stuck at customs, the ordered Christmas tree has vanished, and the gifts haven’t even been bought yet. With the help of his friend Bertl (Thomas Mraz), who causes more problems than he solves, Andi fights for the Christmas idyll—and must realize that perhaps it’s the failures that make the magic of the season. Director Claudia Jüptner-Jonstorff ("Greece") crafts a comedy full of situational humor, sharp wit, and subtle undertones about family, loss, and togetherness in an overstimulated world. A star-studded cast, including Adele Neuhauser, Thomas Stipsits, and Heinz Marecek, delivers laughs and emotional moments—perfect for anyone who loves, hates, or simply wants to survive Christmas.
