Classical concert with narrator
Baroque festivity meets gripping storytelling! Verena Altenberger guides you through Bach's Christmas Oratorio and transports you into the world of the famous musical family. With the Salzburg Choir and Philharmonic under Elisabeth Fuchs.
A pre-Christmas concert evening takes you through musical highlights from Johann Sebastian Bach's Christmas Oratorio as well as selected works by Bach's sons. Under the direction of Elisabeth Fuchs, the Salzburg Philharmonic and its choir bring to life the magic of Baroque festive music, including the overture from Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D major and Brandenburg Concerto No. 3. The program is complemented by compositions from Wilhelm Friedemann, Carl Philipp Emanuel, and Johann Christoph Friedrich Bach, such as the Sinfonia in D minor or the Magnificat anima mea.
Verena Altenberger, serving as a narrative guide, connects the musical excerpts with stories and anecdotes about the most influential musical family of the 18th century. The evening promises an atmospheric journey into the world of the Baroque—marked by elegance, musical diversity, and the unique fusion of art and history.
