Description

The Moor Gasserplatz in Göfis combines a dark past with a vibrant ecological present. In September 1864, it marked the site of the last public execution in Vorarlberg – an event that gave the area its name. Today, the moor is a protected nature reserve with special significance for species conservation and biodiversity.

Archaeologist Laura Holzer traces the historical use of the site, from archaeological finds to the moor’s current role. The focus is also on ecological restoration as part of the nationwide Austrian LIFE-AMooRe project, which aims to renaturalize moors. The evening connects history, science, and nature conservation in a relaxed atmosphere that invites exchange.

The inatura Science-Café takes place in an informal setting, with the option to purchase food and drinks on-site.
