Description

In the hedge theater of Mirabell Garden, Mozart's early work "Apollo et Hyacinthus" will be performed as an open-air opera. Composed by the then eleven-year-old Wolfgang Amadé Mozart, the intermezzo was created in 1767 as an accompanying piece to a Latin tragedy. The opera tells the ancient legend of Apollo, who loves the young Hyacinthus, and the jealous revenge of the god Zephyrus.

Under the musical direction of Gordon Safari and the stage direction of Konstantin Paul, the ensemble BachWerkVokal Salzburg, together with Spotlight Opera, brings this rarely performed work to the stage. The main roles are played by Ilya Dovnar as Oebalus, Samira Taubmann as Melia, Jana Stadlmayr as Hyacinthus, Jaro Kirchgessner as Zephyrus, and Philipp Rauh as Apollo. Stage design and costumes are by Sophie Thammer.

The summery atmosphere of Mirabell Garden lends the performance a special charm. In case of bad weather, the event will take place in the Great Hall.
