Exciting new releases in the literary quartet: Novels by Johanna Sebauer, Martina Hefter, and the 2026 German Book Prize winner will be discussed. Admission free!
Description
In the literary quartet "Aufgeblättert", four experts discuss and analyze three current novels. Johanna Sebauer's "Popóm" (DuMont Verlag) tells the story of Hendrik Popóm, who is in an existential crisis – until an older doppelgänger appears and claims to be him. The novel explores the boundaries between identity, fiction, and reality.
Martina Hefter's work "Nach der Sonne schauen" (Klett-Cotta Verlag), which was awarded the German Book Prize, follows an artist who retreats to the countryside after her work is publicly dismantled. There, she unexpectedly finds new support through a stray dog and a stranger.
Additionally, the German-language novel that was awarded the German Book Prize in 2026 will be presented. The discussion will be led by Christa Gürtler (literary scholar), Klaus Seufer-Wasserthal (bookseller), Anton Thuswaldner (literary critic), and Deborah Holmes (literary scholar).
