Description

"Die Walküre" is the first day of Richard Wagner's stage festival play "Der Ring des Nibelungen" and is presented in a new production by renowned director Kirill Serebrennikov. Under the musical direction of Kirill Petrenko, Wagner's dramatic score unfolds—one of the highlights of Romantic opera literature—featuring iconic motifs such as the "Ride of the Valkyries" or "Wotan’s Farewell."

The production blends contemporary aesthetics with the mythological plot: siblings Siegmund and Sieglinde find each other, while the Valkyrie Brünnhilde rebels against her father Wotan’s authority. The central roles are brought to life by outstanding singers: Jamez McCorkle as Siegmund, Lise Davidsen as Brünnhilde, Christopher Maltman as Wotan, and Catriona Morison as Fricka. The Berlin Philharmonic accompanies the performance with orchestral power and emotional depth.
