Description

This concert brings together two outstanding works of the Romantic era: Johannes Brahms’ Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 77, one of the “Great Five” in violin literature, and Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy’s Symphony No. 3, known as the “Scottish.” The Violin Concerto, a masterpiece full of passion and technical virtuosity, will be performed by the rising star violinist Leonhard Baumgartner.

Mendelssohn’s “Scottish” was composed over twelve years and inspired by a trip to Scotland. The work reflects wild landscapes, harsh climate, and the distinctive sound of bagpipes. Under the baton of Elisabeth Fuchs, the Salzburg Philharmonic presents these two compositions, which captivate with brilliant melodies and emotional depth.
