Experience the first sounds of the Beethoven Year 2027 with works by Beethoven, Schubert, and Strauss at the Großes Festspielhaus Salzburg. A festive opening featuring violin, waltzes, and polkas.
Description
The 2027 New Year's Concert at the Großes Festspielhaus Salzburg brings together works by Beethoven, Schubert, and Strauss for a festive start to the new year. The Beethoven Philharmonie, conducted by Thomas Rösner, and violinist Chiara Sannicandro present a program that focuses on Beethoven's early compositions. Particularly noteworthy are the two "Violin Romances," in which Beethoven created a new form of music tailored to the sound of the violin. These pieces captivate with their simple elegance and touching melodies.
In addition to Beethoven's overture "The Consecration of the House" and the "Music for a Knight's Ballet," Schubert's ballet music from "Rosamunde" will be performed. The second half of the concert is marked by the lively sounds of the Strauss dynasty, including the overture to "A Night in Venice," the "Lagoon Waltz," and lively polkas. A blend of classical depth and infectious lightness that puts the audience in a festive mood.
