Description

The 2027 New Year's Concert at the Großes Festspielhaus Salzburg opens the Beethoven Year with a focus on his early works. The Beethoven Philharmonie, conducted by Thomas Rösner and featuring violinist Chiara Sannicandro, presents Beethoven's "Violin Romances" in F major and G major – innovative, purely instrumental compositions distinguished by simple beauty and lyrical intensity. The first half is complemented by Beethoven's overture "The Consecration of the House" and the music for a "Ritterballett."

After the intermission, a lively finale follows with works by Franz Schubert and the Strauss dynasty. Schubert's ballet music from "Rosamunde" transitions into Johann Strauss's overture "A Night in Venice" as well as his waltzes and polkas, including the "Lagunen Waltz" and the "Jockey Polka." An evening of music that combines Beethoven's genius with the festive lightness of the Viennese Classical style, ushering in the new year with hope.
