Description

In the Wiener Saal of the Mozarteum, Maria Kubizek and Werner Neugebauer (violins), Danka Nikolić (viola), Philipp Comploi (cello), and Marcello Gatti (traverso flute) perform works from the 18th and early 19th centuries. The program centers on compositions by Joseph Martin Kraus, including the Sonata for Flute and Viola VB 158 with its dialogic timbres, the virtuosic String Quartet No. 2 in B-flat major "Bratschenquartett," and the Flute Quintet in D major VB 188. Leopold Mozart’s Divertimenti for two violins and cello showcase playful lightness, while Juan Crisóstomo de Arriaga’s String Quartet No. 2 in A major, with its romantic overtones, bridges the gap to the new era. The concert offers a multifaceted glimpse into chamber music between the Baroque and early Romantic periods.
