In the magnificent marble hall of Schloss Mirabell, one of Salzburg’s most beautiful and historically significant concert venues, Ensemble 1756 invites you to an evening of works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Once the stage for performances by the Mozart family, the hall provides the perfect setting for this concert, offering a sonorous journey through Mozart’s oeuvre.
The program features the Salzburg Divertimento in D major, K. 136, the Clarinet Quintet in A major, K. 581, the overture to Le Nozze di Figaro, K. 492, and the renowned Clarinet Concerto in A major, K. 622. The latter, a work brimming with warmth and musical poetry, stands as one of the highlights of clarinet literature and forms the centerpiece of the evening. The soloist is clarinetist Marius Birtea.
Ensemble 1756, founded in Salzburg, brings together musicians who primarily trained at the Mozarteum Salzburg. With flexible lineups ranging from trios to chamber orchestras, the ensemble blends chamber-music precision with vibrant ensemble culture, interpreting Mozart’s works from their youthful lightness to the expressive depth of his later masterpieces.
