Experience Christmas traditions at the Salzburg Open-Air Museum: crafts, fairy tales, music, and traditional delicacies for the whole family. A magical Advent day in a historic atmosphere.
At the Salzburg Open-Air Museum, a festive Advent world for the whole family comes to life during the first Advent weekends. Historic houses invite you to experience Christmas in harmony with old traditions and nature. Visitors can get involved themselves: traditional candle-pulling creates personal Christmas lights, while straw stars, Christmas tree ornaments, and wreaths are crafted. At the "Engerl Post Office," letters to the Christ Child await their delivery.
A Christmas maze and storytellers transport children and adults into magical worlds. Trumpeters spread festive sounds, and a ride on the museum train along with a nativity exhibition complete the experience. Traditional treats like Stachelbier (a spiced beer), bacon, chestnuts, and mulled wine provide sustenance. A day filled with discovery, craftsmanship, and Christmas anticipation.
