During the Advent weekends, the Salzburg Open-Air Museum transforms into a contemplative pre-Christmas world, where old traditions and nature create an idyllic backdrop. Historic houses invite visitors to explore and participate: guests craft straw stars, Christmas tree ornaments, or festive wreaths, draw personalized candles, and send letters to the Christkind at the "Engerl Post Office."
A Christmas maze delights children, while storytellers and fairy tale narrators create magical worlds for both young and old. A ride on the museum train, a nativity scene exhibition, and the festive sounds of the brass ensemble contribute to the enchanting atmosphere. Traditional treats like Stachelbier (a spiced beer), bacon, cookies, and mulled wine complete the experience – perfect for a shared celebration of the senses.
