Description

As part of the Mozart Week 2027, the Academy Orchestra of the University Mozarteum, conducted by Martin A. Fuchsberger, will perform a varied program that combines works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and his contemporary Juan Crisóstomo de Arriaga. The concert spans from cheerful to profound sounds, showcasing the diversity of music from this era.

A special highlight is the juxtaposition of Mozart’s Adagio and Allegro in F minor (KV 594) in two versions: first, the original for mechanical barrel organ, followed by an arrangement for wind ensemble by Klemens Vereno. This rare combination allows listeners to experience the same musical idea in two vastly different sound worlds. Also featured is Arriaga’s "Herminia" for soprano and orchestra—a work that highlights Mozart’s influence on European musical culture of his time and pays tribute to the composer often referred to as the "Spanish Mozart."

The concert concludes with Mozart’s Symphony No. 39 in E-flat major (KV 543), one of his most enigmatic and festive symphonies, as well as the moving "Ave verum Corpus" with choir, which achieves its profound effect without grand gestures.
