Description

This choral concert is dedicated to Ludwig van Beethoven’s Missa solemnis in D major, Op. 123, one of his most significant and technically as well as spiritually demanding works. Under the direction of Kirill Petrenko, the Berlin Philharmonic, together with the Rundfunkchor Berlin—whose choral preparation is led by Gijs Leenaars—perform this masterpiece. The solo parts are taken by soprano Golda Schultz, mezzo-soprano Wiebke Lehmkuhl, tenor Sebastian Kohlhepp, and bass David Steffens.

The Missa solemnis was created as an expression of Beethoven’s deep faith and artistic ambition. With its monumental length, complex harmonies, and emotional intensity, it is regarded as the pinnacle of sacred music. A concert that impresses through its musical depth and interpretive precision.
