Experience Beethoven’s masterpieces – Violin Concerto in D major and Symphony No. 4 – with the Wiener Akademie and Benjamin Schmid. Historically informed and passionately interpreted.
Description
The Wiener Akademie, led by Martin Haselböck, presents a Beethoven program featuring two of the composer’s most outstanding works. At the heart of the performance is the Violin Concerto in D major, one of the most significant works in the violin repertoire, which only gained worldwide recognition posthumously through Joseph Joachim. Benjamin Schmid, an acclaimed violinist, delivers a technically masterful and emotionally profound interpretation, uncovering new facets of the piece with each performance.
The second half features Beethoven’s Symphony No. 4 in B-flat major, a frequently underrated gem of his oeuvre. The work shines with its cheerful elegance and chamber-like refinement, without sacrificing passionate expressiveness. The Wiener Akademie, with its historically informed approach—based on original instruments and performance techniques of the period—brings special emphasis to the interpretation of both pieces.
