Description

The Philharmonic String Quartet performs works by three central composers of the Classical and Romantic eras: Ludwig van Beethoven's String Quartet Op. 59 No. 1 in F major "Rasumowsky," Franz Schubert's Quartet Movement D 703 in C minor, and Johannes Brahms' String Quartet Op. 51 No. 1 in C minor.

Beethoven's "Rasumowsky" Quartet, a key work in the classical string quartet literature, opens the concert. It is followed by Schubert's unfinished yet expressive quartet movement, before Brahms' first string quartet concludes the musical journey with its characteristic depth. The ensemble consists of Dorian Xhoxhi and Helena Madoka Berg (violin), Naoko Shimizu (viola), and Christoph Heesch (cello).
