Description

The Berlin Philharmonic Octet performs two significant chamber music works: Franz Berwald’s Grand Septet in B-flat major and Ludwig van Beethoven’s Septet in E-flat major, Op. 20. The latter is one of Beethoven’s most renowned compositions in this genre, distinguished by its cheerful, playful lightness, while Berwald’s work captivates with lyrical elegance and structural originality.

The ensemble features Daishin Kashimoto and Romano Tommasini (violins), Amihai Grosz (viola), Olaf Maninger (cello), Esko Laine (double bass), Wenzel Fuchs (clarinet), Stefan Schweigert (bassoon), and Stefan Dohr (horn). The group combines soloistic brilliance with chamber music precision, promising a richly textured experience blending classical tradition with romantic expression.
