Description

Two masterpieces by Ludwig van Beethoven resound in the Großes Festspielhaus: the Violin Concerto in D major and Symphony No. 4 in B-flat major. Once elevated to worldwide success by Joseph Joachim, the Violin Concerto is now considered one of the most significant works in violin literature. Benjamin Schmid, an outstanding violinist, performs it with the Wiener Akademie under the direction of Martin Haselböck. Their historically informed approach to Beethoven’s music has won international acclaim and reveals new facets of the work.

Following this is Beethoven’s rarely performed Symphony No. 4, a work of cheerful lightness and chamber-music refinement, yet brimming with passion. The Wiener Akademie and Martin Haselböck present these two jewels of the classical repertoire in a unique interpretation.
