Border Crossings from Bach to Bartolomey: A unique cello concert featuring works from the Baroque, Classical, and Modern eras. Experience students and faculty of the Mozarteum University in the Solitär.
Description
As part of the six-part concert series "HerbstTöne 2026," the concert "Celloversum II" is entirely dedicated to the cello. Matthias Bartolomey and Leonhard Roczek, accompanied by students from Bartolomey's cello class, present a program ranging from Carlo Gesualdo to Johann Sebastian Bach, Leonard Bernstein, and Matthias Bartolomey himself. The artistic direction is led by Cibrán Sierra-Vázquez and Lukas Hagen.
The concert spans from Baroque sounds to contemporary compositions, showcasing the instrument's diverse expressive possibilities. Teachers and students from the Mozarteum University jointly shape this musical journey, which includes both canonical works and lesser-known rarities. An evening that explores the boundaries of the cello and celebrates the connection between tradition and modernity.
