Date with Mozart & Christmas in Salzburg

During the pre-Christmas season, visitors can look forward to a festive concert in the opulent rooms of the Salzburg Residence. The centerpiece is Mozart's variation work "Ah vous dirai-je, Maman," which is now known as the melody of "Morgen kommt der Weihnachtsmann." Mozart transforms the simple folk song into artful variations, showcasing his musical ingenuity.

The program also includes other works by Mozart, including the "Piano Sonata No. 11 in A Major" with its famous "Alla Turca" movement, as well as the aria "Dies Bildnis ist bezaubernd schön" from "The Magic Flute." The concert concludes with traditional Christmas carols such as "Still, still, still." The pieces are performed by the Residence Ensemble with Bernhard Teufl (tenor) and Minka Popovich on the historical fortepiano.
