Description

This family concert combines Antonín Dvořák’s famous symphony From the New World with an entertaining story. The Salzburg Philharmonic presents the work, which Dvořák composed during his stay in America. The music captures the impressions of vast landscapes and bustling cities.

At its heart is the story of Marie, a girl who moves from Salzburg to New York and initially feels lost in the unfamiliar metropolis. Through her encounter with taxi driver Tony, she discovers the "New World"—despite detours, traffic jams, and surprising experiences. Eventually, they reach the Statue of Liberty, the radiant symbol of America. The concert takes young visitors on a musical journey filled with images and sounds.

The performers include Katharina Gudmundsson as Marie, Frederic Böhle as Tony, and Elisabeth Fuchs as the conductor of the Salzburg Philharmonic.
