Franz Trattner's Open Mic Session at Jazzit

At this Open Mic session led by Franz Trattner, the focus is on music from Soul, R&B, Blues, and Funk. The Fun(k) Orchestra accompanies singers and instrumentalists with a fixed setlist featuring classics like Aretha Franklin’s "Respect," Ray Charles’ "What’d I Say," or Amy Winehouse’s "Back to Black." Modern pieces such as Alicia Keys’ "Empire State of Mind," original compositions by Franz Trattner, and instrumental tracks like Cory Wong’s "Smooth Move" or The Brand New Heavies’ "Milk Shake" are also part of the program.

The session follows the example of legendary New York Open Mic Nights, offering a platform for spontaneous performances in a relaxed atmosphere—no prior registration required. The ensemble consists of experienced musicians, including Stephanie Semeniuc (vocals), Serafin Javorka (trumpet), and Franz Trattner on drums. For beginners, there is a hotline to clarify questions about keys or arrangements. Admission is free, doors open at 6 PM.
