Description

For International Women's Day, the Minguet Quartet honors the often-forgotten voices of female composers from different eras. The program spans from Mozart's String Quartet in D minor, K. 421, through Alma Mahler's songs "Die stille Stadt" and "Ich wandle unter Blumen," to works by contemporary female composers such as Rebecca Clarke, whose "Poem for String Quartet" was written in an era when women were rarely permitted to compose.

Modern compositions by Elnaz Seyedi ("fragmente über/unter druck"), Anda Kryeziu ("String Quartet No. 2 'Neue Kraft fühlend'"), and Lisa Streich ("Sternenstill") showcase the diversity and innovative power of today's female composers. The Minguet Quartet – Ulrich Isfort and Annette Reisinger (violin), Aida-Carmen Soanea (viola), and Matthias Diener (cello) – performs these multifaceted works with musical precision. A collaboration between the International Mozarteum Foundation, the Maria-Anna-Mozart-Gesellschaft Salzburg, and the DomQuartier, highlighting women's contributions to music history.
