Dive into Mozart's world! Discover how the composer lived in Salzburg and which musical Christmas traditions shaped his time – with a small surprise from the Christkindlmarkt.
Description
This themed tour sheds light on the life of Wolfgang Amadé Mozart at the Salzburg court of the Prince-Archbishops. Visitors follow in his footsteps through the opulent rooms of the Residenz and Salzburg Cathedral – his most important places of activity as court musician. During Advent, the focus is also on how the Mozart family spent the festive days and which musical traditions shaped Christmas at the time.
A special highlight is the opportunity to combine the tour with a chamber concert. The program includes Mozart’s variations "Ah vous dirai-je, Maman" (known as "Morgen kommt der Weihnachtsmann") as well as festive music from the Salzburg region. The organ loft of the cathedral, part of the DomQuartier tour, refers to Mozart’s church compositions, most of which were written for this location. Following the tour, participants can look forward to a small surprise from the Salzburg Christkindlmarkt.
