Premiere of the newly founded Salzburg Improvisers Orchestra: Free improvisation, collective sound research, and spontaneous music. Admission only at the evening box office.
Description
As part of the NiM and Hear series, the Salzburg Improvisers Orchestra presents itself to the public for the first time. Founded in 2026 by Jordina Millà and Paul Eiser, the ensemble explores new forms of improvisation with large acoustic sound bodies—inspired by projects in London, Amsterdam, or Vienna. Around 15 musicians from Salzburg, Munich, Ulm, and Vienna bring their diverse backgrounds to the stage, ranging from classical and jazz to free improvisation and sound research.
Without pre-written material, the music emerges in the moment—shaped by collective listening, spontaneous decisions, and the ability to integrate the unexpected. The concert culminates in an open session where beginners are also welcome to experience the collective creation live. The lineup, led by Jordina Millà (piano), includes instruments such as saxophones, electric guitar, double bass, and percussion, all working together to create a unique sound experiment.
