Description

The Salzburg Marionette Theatre combines two timeless fairy tales in a magical production: Sergei Prokofiev’s musical work Peter and the Wolf and the Brothers Grimm’s Little Red Riding Hood. The wolf serves as a connecting element – in Prokofiev’s composition, represented by the distinctive sounds of the bassoon, while in Little Red Riding Hood, he appears as a cunning antagonist. The stories seamlessly intertwine, transporting the audience into a world of music and imagination.

Prokofiev’s renowned composition, conducted by Claudio Abbado, brings the characters to life through characteristic instruments. The handcrafted marionettes and the detailed stage design, created in the theatre’s workshops, create a magical atmosphere. The performance is designed for children aged four and up and is presented in German with English explanations. An ideal opportunity to introduce young visitors to classical music and fairy tales in a playful way.
