Description

The Salzburg Shepherds' Advent 2026 focuses on the traditional shepherds' play by Tobi Reiser. The story follows shepherds from the Salzburg regions who, on a cold winter's night, search for the stable on the outskirts of the city. Together, they consider how they can honor the newborn Messiah with music. After some rehearsals, they choose the "Schleunigen," a traditional shepherd's song.

The anniversary is special because Sepp Radauer, who made his debut in 1969 as a young actor playing "Lippei from Lungau," now takes the audience and young performers on an Advent journey to the manger as the "Old Shepherd." The framing narrative begins with children asking him to let them participate in the play, promising a fun and contemplative atmosphere.
