Description

In 2026, the Salzburg Shepherds' Advent will celebrate its 20th anniversary in the Great Hall of the University of Salzburg with the traditional Shepherds' Play by Tobi Reiser. The story follows shepherds from the Salzburg regions who set out on a winter's night to Bethlehem to pay homage to the newborn Messiah with music. After joint rehearsals, they choose the "Schleunigen" as their musical gift.

A special highlight is the participation of Sepp Radauer, who first appeared on stage in 1969 as a child in the role of "Lippei from Lungau." As the "Elder Shepherd," he now guides young performers and the audience through a delightful frame story: children ask him to take part in the play and accompany him on the Advent journey to the manger. A blend of tradition, music, and intergenerational joy awaits visitors.
