This Advent matinee in the baroque Marble Hall of Schloss Mirabell is dedicated to the multifaceted work of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Ensemble 1756, founded by graduates of the Mozarteum Salzburg, presents a program together with solo oboist Emmanuelle Lalancette that traces Mozart’s musical development from youthful lightness to mature expressive power. The concert features the early Salzburg Divertimento in D major K. 136, the Quartet for Oboe and Strings in F major K. 370, the overture to "Le Nozze di Figaro" K. 492, and the famous Serenade in G major "Eine kleine Nachtmusik" K. 525.
At the heart of the performance is the oboe, whose lyrical and nuanced sound shapes the concert. Technical brilliance combines with a lively dialogue between soloist and ensemble, making Mozart’s characteristic sound world impressively tangible. The Marble Hall, once a venue for musical performances by the Mozart family, provides a historic setting for this sonorous experience.
