Description

In the magnificent marble hall of Schloss Mirabell, works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky resonate, performed by the Mozart Consort Salzburg. Founded in 1999, this ensemble brings together years of experience from engagements with the Mozarteum Orchestra, Salzburg Cathedral Music, and the Salzburg Festival. The evening’s centerpiece features Mozart’s "Salzburg Symphony" in D major K. 136, the Concerto for Cello and Strings in D major K. 447, the Serenade in G major K. 525 "Eine kleine Nachtmusik," and the String Quartet in A major K. 169.

The highlight of the concert is Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations op. 33 for cello and string quartet, performed by ensemble member Matthias Beckmann. The program spans from the Viennese Classical period to Romanticism, underscoring the ensemble’s versatility in both chamber music and chamber orchestra settings.
