Description

In the Baroque Marble Hall of Schloss Mirabell, one of Salzburg's most significant concert halls, the Altenau Ensemble presents a concert featuring works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Joseph Haydn. Comprising five international chamber musicians specializing in music from the 18th and 19th centuries, the ensemble performs alongside renowned soloists at the highest level.

The program begins with Haydn's Divertimento in D major Hob. III:3 and Mozart's Salzburg Divertimento in F major K. 138. This is followed by the Quintet for Horn and Strings in E-flat major K. 407, featuring hornist Johannes Hinterholzer. After a break, Mozart's Horn Concerto in E-flat major K. 447 and the famous Serenade in G major K. 525 "Eine kleine Nachtmusik" will be performed.

The Altenau Ensemble, named after Salome Alt – the life partner of Salzburg's Prince-Archbishop Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau – combines musical virtuosity with the historical atmosphere of the hall, where the Mozart family once performed for the Salzburg archbishops.
