Description

In the historic Marble Hall of Schloss Mirabell, Ensemble 1756, together with solo clarinetist Marius Birtea, presents a concert featuring works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Carl Maria von Weber. The ensemble consists of musicians who trained at the University of Mozarteum Salzburg and now perform in renowned orchestras. With flexible line-ups ranging from trios to chamber orchestras, it combines chamber music refinement with a vibrant ensemble culture.

The program spans a wide arc through Mozart's oeuvre: from his early, lively compositional art in the Salzburg Divertimento in D major K. 136, through the exhilarating overture to "Le Nozze di Figaro," to the Clarinet Concerto in A major K. 622 – one of Mozart's last completed works, characterized by warmth, elegance, and musical poetry. The concert is complemented by Weber's Quintet for Clarinet and Strings in B-flat major Op. 34, which showcases the clarinet's rich sound virtuously.
