Description

The Salzburg Bach Society invites you to an evening concert featuring works for traverso flute, cello, and fortepiano closely associated with Salzburg. Marcello Gatti, one of the leading flute virtuosos of our time, performs compositions by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Luigi Gatti, Franz Joseph Haydn, and Carl Maria von Weber.

The evening is titled "Traumerwachen" ("Dream Awakening"), inspired by a poem by Friederike Susan that celebrates the flute's poetic power: "O flute, the heavenly language!" The Romantic music showcases the transverse flute as an instrument of lyrical intensity and vocal expression. Carl Maria von Weber, who studied in Salzburg under Michael Haydn, significantly shaped this musical language—his encounters with Salzburg flutist Thaddäus Susan were particularly influential.

Marcello Gatti will be accompanied by Agnieszka Oszanca on the cello and Katarzyna Drogosz on the fortepiano. An evening that brings to life the connection between music, poetry, and Salzburg's history.
