Description

A festive Christmas concert at the Franciscan Church presents works by W. A. Mozart, Antonio Vivaldi, Josef Schnabel, Franz Xaver Gruber, and Louis Vierne. Mozart’s "Missa brevis in G major K. 140" is performed during High Mass, complemented by Vivaldi’s "Winter" from "The Four Seasons" and Schnabel’s "Transeamus usque Bethlehem." A special highlight is Gruber’s "Silent Night, Holy Night" in its original version. The concert concludes with Vierne’s "Carillon de Westminster" for organ.

The program is performed by Aleksandra Zamojska (soprano), Bernadette Furch (alto), Bernhard Teufl (tenor), and Wolfgang Moosgassner (bass), accompanied by the choir and orchestra of the Franciscan Church. Markus Stepanek plays the organ, with Bernhard Gfrerer conducting. Another concert featuring Bernhard Gfrerer and Markus Stepanek on two organs, along with texts by P. Thomas Hrastnik OFM, rounds off the day.
