Description

The documentary 'Between Kitchen and Piano: Nannerl Mozart' by Renate Lachinger is dedicated to the life of Maria Anna Mozart, known as Nannerl, the elder sister of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The film portrays Nannerl as a highly gifted musician who, despite her own artistic achievements, often remained in the shadow of her brother. Using historical documents such as letters and diaries, her musical talent—as a pianist and possibly as a composer—as well as her role in 18th-century society are illuminated. The documentary shows how Nannerl's legacy was long underestimated and brings her accomplishments into focus. A fascinating insight into the life of a woman whose story continues to inspire today.
