During the contemplative pre-Christmas season, visitors are treated to a musical highlight in the historic opulent rooms of the Salzburg Residence. At the center is Mozart’s variation work "Ah vous dirai-je, Maman" (KV 265) – known as the melody of the song "Morgen kommt der Weihnachtsmann". In an arrangement by Peter Peinstingl, Mozart transforms the simple French folk song into artistic variations, showcasing his unmistakable ingenuity.
Another highlight is the Clarinet Quintet in A major KV 581, with its four movements, including the lyrical Larghetto and the lively Minuet. The evening concludes with Christmas sounds from the Salzburg region, featuring traditional melodies and a musical surprise. Members of the Residence Ensemble, including Theo Burkali on clarinet and Chanelle Bednarczyk and Balazs Moldiz on violins, bring the evening to life.
