Description

On the occasion of the concert season of the Mozarteum Salzburg, this opening talk is dedicated to the phenomenon of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – and the numerous artistic engagements with his work. Tenor Rolando Villazón discusses with musicologist Ulrich Leisinger and conductor Linus Klumpner the complexity of Mozart’s compositions: How were they received during his lifetime, and how do they continue to shape music today? The focus is not only on historical aspects but also on modern interpretations and the question of what Mozart’s music means for today’s musicians and audiences.

The conversation is musically accompanied by the ensemble Bella Musica Mozarteum, a chamber ensemble of the foundation led by Stefan David Hummel, which presents live excerpts from Mozart’s operas, symphonies, and chamber music works. The combination of analysis and live musical examples makes the discussion particularly vivid.
