"HOLIDAI – FINALLY REAL VACATION" is an interactive AI theater piece by the media art group gold extra that immerses visitors in a digitally controlled vacation world. Dream beaches, mysterious AirBnB accommodations, and smart home technology merge into an experience that adapts to the audience’s desires—yet what remains of a perfectly organized vacation without mishaps or surprises?
The piece combines theater, media art, and gaming into an escape-room-like setting where the audience actively shapes the experience. Crime-noir elements and vacation mysteries collide with AI-controlled everyday technologies, as gold extra casts a pointed look at the role of smart devices: How much comfort is necessary, and what is lost when algorithms replace adventure?
A coproduction that is newly created each time, questioning the boundaries between reality and digital dreamworld. The staging invites reflection on one’s own relationship with technology and freedom—without any wake-up call.
