Description

In Chamber Concert IV, three outstanding string quartets by Joseph Haydn, Ludwig van Beethoven, and Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy are performed. The program spans from Haydn's classical elegance through Beethoven's revolutionary complexity to Mendelssohn's romantic emotionality.

The works performed include Haydn's String Quartet Op. 20 No. 2 in C major, Beethoven's Grosse Fuge Op. 133 in B-flat major, and Mendelssohn's early masterpiece, the String Quartet Op. 13 in A minor. The pieces are interpreted by internationally renowned musicians: Noah Bendix-Balgley and Hande Küden (violin), Diyang Mei (viola), and Knut Weber (cello).

While Haydn's quartet is characterized by clear structures and harmonic balance, Beethoven's Grosse Fuge showcases dense polyphony and expressive power, pushing the boundaries of classical form. Mendelssohn's quartet combines lyrical melody with romantic depth and is considered one of his most significant early works.
