Description

The personnel pays tribute to the radical and multifaceted work of pezoldo, a pioneer of feminist video art, body art, and climate activism. As a "video guerrilla" and minimalist filmmaker, she has shaped the art world since the 1970s with works that challenge perception, the body, and society. After stints in New York and Paris, where her pieces were shown at the Museum of Modern Art, Documenta, and the Venice Biennale, she has lived in Salzburg since 2013. pezoldo’s work is a manifesto of resistance—against sensory overload, the atrophy of the senses, and for an art that celebrates deceleration and heightened perception.

Three of her films will be screened: Toilette (1979), an experimental "body language video game film"; Canale Grande (1983), a sharp-tongued alternative TV comedy; and Revolution of the Eyes (2022), a silent but eloquent polemic against the modern economy of perception. Each film will be introduced by Sebastian Höglinger (curator/dramaturg), Stefan Grissemann (film journalist), or Thomas Ballhausen (Head of Science & Art, Mozarteum/University of Salzburg), who will contextualize pezoldo’s work. Her pieces are radical counter-designs—reduced, political, and uncompromisingly idiosyncratic.
