Description

In the Baroque Marble Hall of Schloss Mirabell, one of Salzburg's most beautiful concert halls, the Altenau Ensemble presents a program featuring works by Haydn, Mozart, Bizet, and Vivaldi. The ensemble's name recalls Schloss Altenau, built by Wolf-Dietrich von Raitenau for his companion Salome Alt, from which Schloss Mirabell later emerged.

The ensemble, consisting of five internationally experienced chamber musicians, performs Haydn's Divertimento in D major Hob. III:3 and Mozart's Salzburg Divertimento in F major KV 138. With Cecilio Perera on guitar, Vivaldi's Concerto for Guitar and Strings in D major RV 93 is heard. A special highlight is Bizet's "Carmen Suite," before Mozart's famous Serenade in G major KV 525 "Eine kleine Nachtmusik" concludes the evening. The concert combines virtuosic chamber music with a historic atmosphere.
