Description

The orchestral concert at the Großes Festspielhaus brings together works by Beethoven, Debussy, and Ravel for a European evening with an international ensemble: the Brussels Philharmonic, conducted by Swiss conductor Michel Tabachnik and featuring Norwegian pianist Christian Ihle Hadland as soloist, presents a varied program.

The evening opens with Beethoven’s dramatic "Coriolan" Overture, followed by his Piano Concerto No. 3 in C minor, one of the highlights of his oeuvre. After the intermission, Debussy’s symphonic poem "La Mer" transports the audience into the sonic world of the sea in all its facets. The concert concludes with Ravel’s "La Valse," originally intended as a homage to Johann Strauss but ultimately a fascinating dance on the edge of a volcano—elegant yet menacing. A concert that blends classical rigor with impressionistic sonic magic.
