In the Großes Festspielhaus, the Basel Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Markus Poschner, presents a diverse concert program featuring works by Haydn, Grieg, and Beethoven. The evening opens with Edvard Grieg’s "Two Nordic Melodies," enchanting the audience with Nordic sounds.

Next follows Joseph Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto in E-flat major, one of the first works for keyed trumpet, performed by the Norwegian star trumpeter Tine Thing Helseth. The grand finale is Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5, the "Fate Symphony," a masterpiece brimming with emotional intensity and captivating rhythms. Inspired by the ideals of the French Revolution, Beethoven created a work that continues to fascinate to this day.
