Experience an electrifying orchestral concert featuring works by Bruch and Sibelius. The Gothenburg Opera Orchestra captivates with Swedish flair and virtuosic violin playing.
Description
The Göteborg Opera Orchestra, one of Sweden’s most renowned ensembles, makes its Salzburg debut. Under the baton of its First Guest Conductor Aivis Greters and featuring internationally acclaimed violinist Veronika Eberle as soloist, the ensemble presents a program of works from the Romantic and Late Romantic periods.
The centerpiece is Max Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1 in G minor, a highlight of the Romantic concert repertoire. It is complemented by Bruch’s "Swedish Dances," inspired by Brahms’ "Hungarian Dances" and enriched with folkloric elements. The concert concludes with Jean Sibelius’ Symphony No. 1 in E minor, a work that, despite echoes of Tchaikovsky, already reveals the composer’s unmistakable Finnish musical language.
