Description

In the Baroque Marble Hall of Schloss Mirabell, where the Mozart family once performed for the Salzburg archbishops, works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Carl Maria von Weber resonate. Ensemble 1756 – founded in Salzburg and composed of graduates from the Mozarteum – presents Mozart’s early Divertimento in D major K. 136, Weber’s Clarinet Quintet op. 34, and the overture to Le Nozze di Figaro. The highlight is Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto in A major K. 622, a masterpiece full of warmth and elegance, performed by solo clarinetist Marius Birtea.

The ensemble performs in flexible configurations ranging from trios to chamber orchestras, blending chamber-music precision with a vibrant ensemble culture. The program spans from Mozart’s youthful lightness to the expressive depth of his later works, inviting a sonorous journey of discovery.
