Description

In the Baroque Marble Hall of Schloss Mirabell, one of Salzburg’s most beautiful concert halls, the Altenau Ensemble invites you on a musical journey through the 18th and late 19th centuries. The internationally renowned ensemble, named after Salome Alt – the life partner of Salzburg’s Prince-Archbishop Wolf-Dietrich von Raitenau, whose Altenau Castle later became today’s Mirabell – performs with historical expertise and chamber-music precision.

The program features Haydn’s cheerful Divertimento in D major and Mozart’s early Salzburg Divertimento in F major, followed by Bizet’s passionate "Carmen Suite." After the intermission, Vivaldi’s Concerto for Guitar and Strings in D major RV 93, featuring soloist Cecilio Perera, takes the stage, before Mozart’s iconic Serenade in G major "Eine kleine Nachtmusik" brings the evening to a close. The lavishly stuccoed Marble Hall, where the Mozart family once performed for the Salzburg archbishops, provides the perfect setting for these resounding masterpieces.
