Description

In the magnificent marble hall of Schloss Mirabell, one of the world's most significant Baroque concert halls, the Mozart Consort Salzburg presents works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The program includes Mozart's "Salzburg Symphony" in D major K. 136, the Concerto for Cello and Strings in D major after K. 447, and the world-famous Serenade in G major K. 525 "Eine kleine Nachtmusik." It is complemented by the String Quartet in A major K. 169 and Tchaikovsky's Rococo Variations op. 33 for cello and string quartet, performed by Matthias Beckmann on the cello.

Founded in 1999, the ensemble is dedicated to Salzburg's musical tradition and interprets masterpieces of the Viennese Classical period alongside works from the Baroque and Romantic eras. Its members have a long-standing collaboration in renowned orchestras such as the Mozarteum Orchestra or the Salzburg Festival. A special focus lies on Mozart's oeuvre, inspired by the city's rich musical history.
